History of “Bitten by the Modelling Bug”

This is the third year for this highly successful event. Last year, 4 Malls hosted the event and approximately 200 participants enrolled in the program. The day was both exciting and fun for the participants, however, it included a lot of hard work.

The highlights of the day included having hair styled by professional stylists, working with makeup instructors and learning how to apply makeup that is appropriate. Then the hard work began, as the participants worked on posture and pivots. Everyone was fitted with an outfit that they would wear in the fashion show and then it was on to a photography session. Everyone loved “being in front of the camera” and the pictures were amazing. Next the fashion show routines and choreography had to be learnt because the fashion show was fast approaching. Once the participants knew the routines, a complete rehearsal took place and then everyone had to re-fresh their hair and makeup, as they got ready for “the big moment on stage.”

The Fashion Show and Competition

The front stage area was filled with people wanting to see the fashion show and the dressing room was filled with excited and nervous participants. For many, this was their first time on a stage and the first time to do any modelling in a public environment. What a show!!!! No one made any mistakes, everyone smiled, they enjoyed the moment and remembered their routines. It was a proud moment for parents, family and friends of the participants. The judges said it was so hard to choose only 5 finalists, however, it had to be done.

The Finalists

Five finalists from each Mall were selected and all 20 took part in the Grand Finale at The Bay Court in Mic Mac Mall. Once again, everyone had their hair and makeup done, photos were taken, another clothing selection was required, more rehearsal and more routines. It was a very busy and fast paced day. The Bay Court was filled with spectators waiting to not only watch the fashion show, but to see who would emerge as the Top Runway Model and the Top Photography Model. This judging was even more difficult because the participants were gaining confidence being on the runway and many felt more comfortable and  self-assured. Then it was time to announce the 2 top models.
