Event Producer


Carol Lesbirel
is the event producer for “Bitten by the Modelling Bug” and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the event. Carol founded “The Group Model & Talent Agency” in 1974 and “The Group Agency” became the #1 Modelling Agency in Atlantic Canada representing models in print, television ads, movies, magazine and newspaper fashion spreads and the Agency was known for producing high caliber runway fashion shows. Carol sold the Agency in 1986 and went on to be the Fashion Director for Mic Mac Mall. In that role, she continued to produce exciting and entertaining fashion shows, hosted a TV show called “People Are Talking About “and did all the radio and TV voice-overs for the Mall. This is the third year Carol has produced “Bitten by the Modelling Bug” and as one participant said last year…”This has been the best experience in my life. I loved it.”

Modelling Instructor

Cheryl Chafe started her modeling/acting career with The Group Model & Talent Agency at age 17. While being represented by “The Group”, she appeared in numerous fashion shows, TV commercials and magazine photo shoots. Cheryl was also the Head Modelling Instructor, while with The Group. She moved to Ottawa and continued to model and act and when moving back to Halifax, she joined City Models, which she purchased in 2001. During the next 6 years, she continued to grow and expand the business and sold the Agency in 2007. Cheryl continues to model and teach modelling classes and her modelling classes focus on personal development and self esteem of participants.

 
Modelling Instructor

Deborah Emmerson has been a dynamic presence in the Halifax modeling industry for more than 25 years. In addition to introducing newer models to the industry, her skills and professionalism include her runway professionalism and her brilliant work in ads and photos. Deborah’s talents extend well beyond the catwalk—she channels her artistic expressions through hairstyling and she is a successful small business owner. When she’s not immersed in her modeling, Deborah works as a Youth Navigator, helping to guide youth towards success and empowerment.

Modelling Instructor
Anne Crowell is a well known runway and photography model and has worked throughout Nova Scotia and Ontario. Her unique modelling style, combined with her strong fashion presence, has created a demand for her as a runway model for the past twenty-five years. Anne is a Registered Massage Therapist and currently owns and operates her own business in The Valley area. Anne enjoys sharing her knowledge and expertise with the participants in “Bitten by the Modelling Bug” workshop and competition.
Dance/Choreography Instructor

Erin Hopewell is currently the Artistic Director of Dance Zone and has been a faculty member for 16 years. She is a well known instructor, performer and choreographer in the Maritimes and has a steadily growing list of choreography awards both in Canada and the US.  She recently was the choreographer for Keshia Chante’s video “Rain” for the TV series Soul.  She has extensive training in jazz, tap, contemporary and hip hop and travels throughout Canada and the US to continue training and stay on the cutting edge of what’s new in the dance world.

Erin’s students have won countless overall awards, scholarships and International Grand-Champion titles. Graduated students have been hired by Disney Cruise Lines and have been involved in prestigious programs including The Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts, Ryerson University and NYU to mention a few.  Erin’s genuine love for children and dance, along with her patience, dedication and high standards have made her a sought after instructor in the dance industry. Her goal as a teacher is to pass on her knowledge and instil in her students a love of the art.
